There are a lot of two and it is not what needs to be followed while preparing to receive your COVID-19 vaccine. One of the widely distributed measures is that prohibits the recipients of the vaccine from drinking alcohol. According to some claims, drinking alcohol 45 days after the vaccine is something that can reduce vaccine efficiency or prevent it from obtaining desired results. The claim also received attention when it was stated as a specific precaution to be followed with the administration of Sputnik V, the Russian COVID-19 vaccine. Sadly, the claim also made many doubts about vaccination. Since alcohol is not the healthiest for our bodies, how bad is it for a person to drink alcohol after vaccination? Will a COVID-19 vaccine be ineffective? Or are you prone to side effects? We clear a few questions for you that will help you prepare for better vaccination. CLEAN EATING RECIPESY AND DELICIOUS CLEAN EATING RECIPESMy History of Vitamin D deficiency (It happened even though I was supplementing) Ivy Larson If I can have a history of vitamin D deficiency, then trust me, anyone can. I wanted my husband, a doctor, to write this blog post (see below) about how a vitamin D deficiency may occur even if you are supplementing with a high dose of 5,000 IUs. But first, for those of you who can be new in Clean Cuisine, I just wanted to give you a quick background story. I hope it helps you see that if I can be poor in vitamin D, then almost anyone can be. If you know I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 1998 at the age of twenty-two. I radically checked my diet and lifestyle after my diagnosis and managed my disease without the need for powerful MS medications modified by diseases for two decades. Although I consider that the nutrient, rich in plants and to be the most important component of the natural treatment plan I follow, the nutritional supplementation, together with exercise, meditation (by the way, this is ) and the management of stress have played a very important role as well. Over the years, I have cut many things about my diet, supplements and exercise regimen (you can read me ), but I have consistently supplemented my diet with vitamin D for at least 15 years. I know for sure it has been at least so long because in the first book I wrote with my husband, published in 2005, supplementation of vitamin D was an essential component of the anti-inflammatory diet plan we recommend. We based our recommendations in Initially I was complementing only 1,000 IUs of vitamin D, but the more we learned about it, the more we realized that 1,000 IUs was probably not enough. Over the years I have touched my supplementation of vitamin D up to 2,000 IUs and more recently as high as 5,000 IUs. In fact, I was supplementing with 5,000 IUs at the time I was diagnosed with a vitamin D deficiency recently. That's why I say, if I can have a history of vitamin D deficiency, then anyone can. I should also point out that I have changed brands of vitamin D. For years I was taking our own brand of clean cooking supplements that we privately label through a pharmaceutical grade nutritional supplement company called ProThera. I took our own supplement line for at least 4 years and I never had a problem. We had to discontinue our line of Clean Cuisine brand supplements earlier this year when ProThera suffered company changes that no longer allowed us to label vitamin AM/PM supplements, minerals and essential fats that we recommend in our As many of you know, the and my suspicion is that the mark of vitamin D supplements I changed to not having content what the label said it did. I don't want to call the brand because I don't know for sure it was the case (as you will read in my husband's article below, other factors could have definitely contributed). However, I cannot ignore the fact that I have never had a vitamin D deficiency until now. And vitamin D deficiency occurred despite complementing with 5,000 IUs a day. One last thing... we live in the sunny south of Florida, where I am exposed daily. I admit that I no longer held the sun on purpose as I did in my teenagers, but it is almost impossible to completely avoid the sun that lives in South Florida. Again, that's why I say, if I can have a history of vitamin D deficiency, then someone can also... Okay, I'll let my husband fill you with how he thinks this might have happened... IvyIvy knew he didn't feel "feel" for the good part of the summer. Initially we blamed the cause of stress to complete and market what we hope will be our best, more informative and more beautiful book of history, At the age of 42, Ivy also knew that she had some hormonal changes going on (she even recently created a new recipe, and began to complement with ) All the time she has continued to eat well, exercise, and take supplements to optimize our health. One of the most important vitamins is vitamin D deficiency and vitamin D is known to be associated with low mood, low energy, weak muscles and weak bones, as well as a series of serious medical conditions. As Ivy mentioned earlier, vitamin D deficiency has even been involved as a risk factor for the development of multiple sclerosis. It is no wonder that Ivy cares so much about having optimal levels of vitamin D, so much so she was taking 5,000 IUs daily from a popular brand supplement. Imagine our disappointment when we went to a nutritional health doctor and had multiple lab tests drawn and then, unfortunately, Ivy was found poor in vitamin D, so deficient that the doctor insisted on supplementation. We had to remind him that we were already complementing. Ivy's Vitamin D Deficiency History: What was wrong? Well, with vitamin D deficiency many things can go wrong... Vitamin D is hard to get through the diet We always encourage people to start with their diet with any nutrient deficiency, including vitamin D. The best natural sources of vitamin D are fish (cold water species in particular), liver, egg yolks and fungi and strongly encourage the consumption of these foods. These alone are not adequate. Other foods have been artificially fortified with vitamin D, but the two primary foods fortified with vitamin D are milk and breakfast cereals, containing dairy and gluten, and cause their own complete set of health problems. Nature wants us to achieve sunlight Nature intends to create vitamin D mainly through exposure to sunlight. We both have just skin and live in Florida and now that we are in our 40 and first signs of sun damage have begun to appear, Ivy has been more concerned about sun exposure causing wrinkles, and even cancer. As a doctor, I can tell you that some of this concern is not relevant and is the unfortunate result of the wrong public information sciences and campaigns. The risks of vitamin D deficiency are long life and significantly affect the quality of life and general health in many ways, while skin cancer is mostly a discomfort that can be surgically removed or treated with radiation. The most serious type of skin cancer, melanoma, is much more related to genetics or an immune system than exposure to sunlight. As for stains and wrinkles, it is true that the sun will damage your skin from a cosmetic point of view. Having said that, you have to weigh the significant risks associated vitamin D deficiency against the benefits of keeping the "skin effect" on old age. I have told Ivy that it is reasonable to allow your back or legs to be exposed to direct sunlight for 15 minutes a day while covering the most likely places to show damage to the sun, such as face, neck, and hands. How can a vitamin D deficiency darken if you are supplementing with vitamin D? The next question is why supplementation with 5,000 IUs of vitamin D, a fairly high daily dose, does it not help? First, make sure the supplements you take are vitamin D3 instead of D2. The D3 version is the biologically active version. Vitamin D is soluble in fat such as vitamins A, E and K and therefore is different from many other vitamins that are soluble in water and can be taken simply well in an empty stomach. For this reason be sure to take vitamin D3 with food, particularly with fatty foods. Just make the effort to take your vitamin D3 supplement with your larger and fatty food every day has the effect of increasing active levels in your body by 50 percent. Not all vitamin D supplements Be created equal Ivy mentioned above, another concern is that the vitamin D supplement you were taking might not have had what the label said you had. As far as it is worthwhile, since we learned about Ivy's vitamin D deficiency, we have again purchased vitamin D through the company we used to work with, ProThera, which has since been renamed (see below). I know for sure that this brand is tested by third parties, and all products are manufactured in a single installation in Reno, Nevada. The problem is that Klaire Labs only sells doctors. As we no longer carry our own line of vitamins brand Clean Cuisine, Ivy called Klaire laboratories and discovered that they sell online only an authorized seller from Amazon, FortressBrand Wellness. So, if you really want to make sure you're getting what you pay with your vitamin D3 supplements, my recommendation would be to get your vitamin D3 through your doctor or order directly on Amazon, but just from FortressBrand Wellness (although you don't know for sure what you're getting). You can buy vitamin D3 from ritual health in Amazon ***Note: Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that is stored in our body and can be accumulated over time. If you are supplementing with high doses (more than 5,000 IU per day), I recommend that you get your blood level checked every 3-6 months while supplementing. What else could have gone wrong? Ivy's vitamin D deficiency could also have been caused by malabsorption. Anyone with bowel disease caused by celiac allergy or celiac disease, intestinal inflammatory disease, chronic diarrhea, food allergies that cause bowel leakage or diarrhea, or irritable bowel syndrome will absorb bad vitamin D. This applies if the vitamin is taken orally as a supplement or taken as a food source when eating salmon or egg yolks. The only solution is to expose yourself to sunlight and allow the body to treat vitamin D deficiency naturally. Supplements can help some people but not people with malabsorption. Consider adding a digestive enzyme supplement If you have a history of gastrointestinal problems, including celiac disease, gluten sensitivity, gallbladder elimination or any other intestinal problem that reduces your ability to absorb fat and therefore vitamin D, I suggest you take a high-quality digestive enzyme that helps in the breakdown and digestion of fats, proteins and torches. This, together with your vitamin D supplement, will help you achieve optimal levels of vitamin D.For the reasons mentioned above, if you decide to supplement with a digestive enzyme that you want to make sure you get what you are paying. I recommend digestive enzymes of the brand Klaire Labs, that you can buy from . Avoid another history of vitamin D deficiency. What is our plan to move forward? We are both committed to spending 15 minutes in the sun every day as often as possible. Ivy will expose her back, arms and legs so the damage related to the sun is avoided in her chest and face. Note, the darkest your natural skin color more sun you need. Fortunately, vitamin D has a long average life so if you make the effort to expose yourself all summer can be fine for the winter while you really make the effort when time cooperates. The risks of having chronically low levels of vitamin D (to your bones, cancer, heart disease, dementia, diabetes and MS, etc.) are much higher than any risk associated with reasonable amounts of sun exposure. Try and ask your doctor or nutritionist to try it. If you are deficient or deficient border in vitamin D you must by all means supplement. A dose of 5,000 IUs as what Ivy was taking daily is suitable IF is being absorbed and IF the supplement you are taking really has the amount you say you do. You will need to take a good quality supplement for at least two months, then go back to the doctor or nutritionist and be re-protected for your blood vitamin D level. If your blood level is still low, then you need to change to another supplement mark and you should also consider being tested for malabsorptive syndromes such as those mentioned above (a gastroenterologist may perform these tests). If you have gastrointestinal problems, I would also suggest supplementing with aand taking my vitamin D supplement and digestive enzyme along with a high-fat meal. This episode of fatigue and unusual feelings of stress was a wake-up call for us and I'm happy to report Ivy is already feeling better after changing the vitamin marks and committing to sun exposure. In general, we believe that levels of vitamins should be tested regularly and deficiencies addressed once identified. If you don't feel well, please look at the root causes. I'm glad we did it and I'm glad we could find a natural approach to improving health. Vitamin D, the "sun vitamin" is in a short supply in our modern world and vitamin D deficiency should be considered as a potential cause for many health problems that are then treated aggressively if necessary. I hope that the history of vitamin D deficiency of Ivy will help you remember how important this vitamin is for our well-being. This is for lasting good health!, if you liked this... They help the d3 get where you need to go without the d3 causing calcification. Ivy Larson says hello Linda! Yes, I am definitely aware that the nutrients work synergically. I take K2 and magnesium (tomo Hardy Nutritionals multivitamin, which I discuss in more detail here: ) but I haven't been taking boron separately, especially because I just assumed that I was getting a lot of the foods I eat. I know that magnesium and K2 can be hard to get in optimal amounts of food, but I have always been under the impression that the boron was quite readily available while you eat a diet rich in varied plants (and even coffee has the boron!). Having said that, if you have research that iron supplements would be a good idea please share! There is always something new to learn 😉 Angie says Ivy, I wanted to thank you because the day you posted this is the day I started living again. I wanted to send you my experience because I think the country is in close shape and you can help as many as you helped me. I'm going to publish here but leave out my personal information. For a year before reading this I'D Been miserable, I had had two cancer diagnosis, 4 treatment and recovery surgeries in 14 and 16 so I thought my fatigue, memory loss (8 additional symptoms!) It was related to all that. Every doctor I saw told me there was nothing wrong with me and I got so bad that I could barely move and I almost gave up. I went to an extra doctor and finally heard me and started testing. I learned through it that I had been poor in vitamin D for at least 4 years (up to 20 times!) And the other doctors knew that (they saw my records) and they knew that when asked what medications I take I always said vitamin D and calcium. I was so upset to see at least 3 cbc results show vitamin d deficiency and they never told me. I started to do research and found my symptoms along with d deficiency and autoimmune diseases. The last doctor and his tests confirmed 2 autoimmune diseases. When I went to the Rheumatologist I told him about my levels d and I thought he had broken a finger, could we check my bones? (also concerned at this point). Bone density tests showed osteoporosis and osteopenia. I'm 52. Suddenly everything made sense. It all pointed to a connection between my defiance, all my symptoms (also dental problems!), and how miserable I felt. I started researching and didn't know what to do since I was taking supplements. This blog appeared in my email 10/10/18 and found a nearby doctor who sold the best quality supplements as you suggested and had a new vitamin D and probiotics in 12. Before a month went up I already felt more energetic and was losing weight (I had been earning even as a good diet). The doctor where I found those supplements is a naturopa and I started seeing her, have been following her advice for supplementation, dietary soaking (free, dairy free, etc, full anti-inflammatory diet), holistic treatments and only 3 1/2 months later I am a new person. I have a way to be 100% (my symptoms are so bad for someone my age, but I have changed so much that I really hope the rest gets better). Thanks a lot for telling your story! It made such a difference because it didn't make sense to be deficient while taking supplements. Please don't stop taking the word out of this. I think we have an epidemic in the United States and so many need to know about this. Can we get you on the show today? It's so important! In the days after reading your blog and I was looking for ways to improve my health, Google continued to suggest a strangely high number of warning articles against other articles that suggest that vitamin d defiance could be naturally arranged. My memory is better but still sketchy, but one of them mentioned statins and I linked it to help change one of my symptoms but with a pill, it looked like a drug connected. I feel like you're on something and you could be a hero to many if you can just get the word out. Thanks again. I just bought your new book because I'm tired of my Tom Kha, chifauxtle bowls, and vegetable soups! You can delete this as soon as you read because it is so long and orderly and personal, but I wanted you to know its impact (current and potential). Angie Ivy Larson says Hi Angie, I'm so sorry it took me so long to come back with you. I've been completely overwhelmed since the release of our cookbook and I'm so overwhelmed at everything I'm now picking up comments for weeks. But reading your blog and the success you're having just made my day! It is really threatening the power of a small vitamin D supplement. I know that for me it has made the world different. I can't thank you enough for sharing your story! I was wondering if you could be prepared to do an interview on the blog later this summer to share your story with our readers? Because I agree, I think it's also an epidemic. Thanks again for taking the time to write. I'm so happy to know you feel better. warm hugs, ivy. Lisa PORTER says it's a great article! If I put my dosage from 1000 UU one day I end up awake all night. I've asked the two doctors, the negotiators and the narcotics about this and no one seems to have an answer. I've tried to take it all day and still let me escape... Get off... I'm sorry for 24 hours if I try to take a little higher. Even when I plead that my daughters are low, so I would love to find a way to be able to take more, especially DURING THE WINTER MONTHS (Life at the NORTHWEST). I was thinking if you had any idea this could be happening? Or how can I find him? Ivy Larson says Hi Lisa, I've actually heard of that that happens to some people before. Here is an article that could help explain why it is happening: also, take into account, not all need mega doses of vitamin D! Could you seriously consider making your vitamin D levels tested before complementing them because maybe you're someone who has high levels? I would say this, we are all different and your body might be trying to tell you something (with insomnia) — that maybe you don't need more D after all!? I hope this makes sense? He says how amazing a post is... Everything makes sense. so often we think we're taking supplements that are helping when the blood work shows they're not doing what they should be. By the way, it was incredibly easy to digest all the information they shared. Thank you for putting all the time to share with us. Ivy Larson says Aww, thank you Aimee! I did not realize that it was YOU until I saw the email address 😉 I still hope to call you later today btw - it was one thing after the other here however. Wait till I tell you what happened since I texted you! But yes, this was a big call of attention to make sure I was still tested. It's the first time I've been back poor in D and I ALMOST didn't prove (bc thought it was all related to the hormone!)
