In fact, it is one of the most popular anti-stick agents found in baby powder, latex-based medical products (such as condoms, diaphragms and medical gloves), and is even used to produce adhesive! So Cornstarch is a kind vegan, right? If you've been vegan for a while, you might have noticed that things sometimes aren't as vegan as they look. While the cabal itself contains no animal product, the production process is not free of cruelty or exploitation. Monsanto has been known to use enormous resources to hire lawyers to harass every agricultural business that has dared to question the effects of GMOs on human health and ethics. Discussion on GMO safety and ethics is a very broad and complicated issue. I personally believe that veganism is about living a life free of cruelty and exploitation of all beings and this includes animals, humans and the planetary ecosystem. So draw your own conclusions about whether GMO-sorted corn starch is friendly. What if I check Certified Organic Cornstarch? Certified organic cornstarch should be, by definition, free of GMO. The problem is that these foods are not really tested to ensure it. If you want to be 100% sure that your corn starch does not contain any GMOs that you need to look for. This will ensure that the corn starch you bought may consider vegan beyond any reasonable doubt. Please keep in mind, this.
